The Second Abbasid Period Rulers refer to the rulers who ruled Egypt after th decline of Tununide Dynasty. The second period of Abbasid rule in Egypt began after the Abbasids became successful in conquering Egypt once again.
In the year 868 Egypt became free from the Abbasid rule when one of its governor Ahmad Ibn Tulun declared the independence of Egypt. The time of rule of Ibn Tunul and his sons is known as Tulunids Dynasty. The Tulunids Dynasty ruled over Egypt from the year 868 to the year 905. after that the Abbasids again conquered Egypt. At that time the Tulunids Dynasty was very weak and the Abbasids took the opportunity of the weakness to attack and conquer Egypt.
The second period of Abbasid rule in Egypt lasted for only thirty years. Starting fro the year 905 to the year 935 the country of Egypt suffered a lot for the poor leadership. The Abbasids continued to rule Egypt from Baghdad through the governors. As most of the governors of Egypt were not good administrators they cannot give the country a good administration. On the other hand the caliphs of Baghdad who were The Second Abbasid Period Rulers of Egypt remained busy with their works and administration of Baghdad. It was not possible for them to devote time for the rule of Egypt. Some of these caliphs or The Second Abbasid Period Rulers include Al Muktafi, Al Muqtadir and Al Qadir and Ar Radi.
In the 930s the caliphs or The Second Abbasid Period Rulers noticed that Egypt is suffering from lack of administration and Fatimid attack they appointed Muhammad ibn Tughj as the governor of Egypt. Muhammad Ibn Tughj is one of the well known governors of Egypt. He took control of Egypt and with his authority implemented better army control ad administrative control on the country of Egypt. He also failed the Fatimid attacks for several times.

For his good work he received the title of Ikhshid that means Prince.
After his death his sos started a new dynasty named Ikhshidid Dynasty. Thus The Second Abbasid Period Rulers as well as the rule came to an end, paving way for the Ikhshidid dynasty.
Wit the second period of Abbasid rule in Egypt the Abbasids control over Egypt faded away. The Abbasids caliphs still remained in Egypt. But they had no administrative power and were happy to have the religious control over the people of Egypt.
