Tatamkhulu Afrika had started writing novels from his young age. When he was 17 his first novel was published. In 1940 his Broken Heart was published which brought him international fame and recognition.
Tatamkhulu Afrika also won his followers and fans acclaim through his novels Tightrope and The Innocents. The novel that was regarded as his last fictional work and was written by him at his last stage was Broken Heart.
