Sassanian Occupation

The Sassanians came into existence during the year 224 AD. Ardashir I was the first ruler of this dynasty by defeating the last Parthian king, Artabanus V, in the battlefield close by to his own capital city at Firuzabad,which was in the central province of Persis. The Sassanians were the greatest rivals of the Romans which dominated the eastern frontier. The pages of history give an account of the wars and campaigns which they fought with the later Roman emperors. Speaking about Egypt,the Sassanians traded with them as there were many kinds of Sassanian occupation during the ancient times. The Persian industry under the Sassanian occupation flourished and they also encouraged trade with foreign lands.

Many kind of trade like silk weaving was introduced from China due to the Sassanian occupation. Many Sassanid silks were in huge demand everywhere in the world. Due to the Sassanian occupation the textile art developed in Byzantium, China, and Japan. Many Chinese merchants came to the Iranian ports to sell raw silk and buy different kinds of materials like rugs,wool,jewels,grains .While the Armenians, Syrians, and Jews connected Persia, Byzantium, and Rome to increase trade. To develop the Sassanian occupation good roads and bridges were built.

Even harbors were built in the Persian gulf to enable the process of trade with countries like India. The Sassanid merchants would come from far and wide to trade with the merchants of India. Some of the recent archaeological discovery has shown some interesting facts that the Sassanids used commercial labels on goods. This helped in the Sassanian occupation as they could promote their brands and helped others to distinguished it different qualities. They were in contemporary to the Byzantine empire era.

During the reign of Khosrau I the Sassanian occupation increased by leaps and bounds. Now the Sassanian occupation was carried on monopoly basis. They sold luxury goods to have a greater hold in the trade and commerce. The Sassanian occupation included activities like building of ports, bridges,roads, agriculture and many other small trade. The Persians carried international trade through the Indian Ocean and in Central Asia and in South Russia although competition.

The Sassanian were basically settled in Oman and Yemen testify.

The Sassanian Occupation mainly consist of manufacturing units of silk,woolen,golden textile,carpets,rugs,skin,leather, pearls and many more. Some of these goods were also exported to China and India. The Sassanian Occupation also consist of metallurgical production. Most of the mining centers at Sassanid were set up in places like Armenia, Caucasus and Transoxania.
