In the year 1930 Egyptian filmmaker Mohammed Karim made the film Zaynab. Zaynab is a very important film in the history of film making in Egypt. This film was directed first among the Egyptians films of the 1930s.

Egyptians films of the 1930s tried to depict the very essence of the land of Pyramid. Zaynab portrayed the Egyptian countryside and the farming community of Egypt. Story of this Egyptian film was based on a novel wrote by Muhammad Husayn Haykal. The name of the novel was also Zaynab. One of the Egyptian films of the 1930s was Tahta daw’ al-qamar. Choukri Madi directed this Egyptian film. In English Tahta daw’ al-qamar means in the moonlight.

This is also an important film in the history of film making in Egypt. This is the first Egyptian talking movie. Sound was recorded separately and the recorded sound was synchronized with the picture. Abdel Mooti Higazi and Ensaf Rouchdi starred in this film. Mou’guizat Egyptians films of the1930s also include the film Guinayt mountasaf allayl. English meaning of this Egyptian film is the midnight crime. This film was released in the year 1930. Mohamed Sabri directed this Egyptian film. Al Kokayeen/ Al-Hawiyah or Cocaine/ The Abyss is one of the Egyptian films of the 1930s. Togo Mizrahi is the director of this Egyptian film. Mou’guizat al-hobb was directed by Ibrahim Lama. This film was also released in the year 1930.

Wakhz al-damir or guilty conscience released in the year 1931 was one of the major Egyptian films. Ibrhim Lara directed this film. Mary Queeny and Assia Dagher starred in this film.

In the same year another Egyptian film was also released. This was Sahib alsa’adah Kechkech bey directed by Stephane Rosti and Naguib el-Rihani. Sahib alsa’adah Kechkech bey means His excellency Kechkech Bey.

Al-Dahaya is one of the Egyptian films of the 1930s. Al-Dahya means the victims. Al-Dahaya was directed by Ibrahim Lama. In the same year Mostafa aw al-sahir al-sagir saw the daylight. This Egyptian film was directed by Mahmoud Khalil Rached. Mostafa aw al-sahir al-sagir means Mostaf or the Little magician. Awlad al- Zawat or sons of aristocrats is the first Arabic film in which sound track was used. Mohammed Karim was the director of this film.
