The very name “Egypt” conjures up images of pyramids and sphinxes. Ancient Egyptian culture is very famous but this place has come a long way since the reign of pharaohs. The various cities of Egypt are seeped in ancient culture yet they have remarkable evidences of modern way of life.
Touring through the various cities of Egypt do not forget to pay a visit to the ancient city of Akhmin. This particular Egyptian city is located on the eastern banks of Nile. Akhmin was known as “Ipu” or “Khent – Menu “ in olden days. The Greek people called it “Panapolis”. The dominant attraction of the city is a statue of “Meryetamun”. This is the tallest statue of a queen. Other main attractions include the “Necropolis of El – Hawaish”. Here you will find tombs dating back to the 4th and 11th century. There is a weaving factory located from where, tourists can purchase silk and cotton pieces here as souvenirs.
While talking of Egypt the first thing that we are reminded of is pyramids. Among the various cities of Egypt, Giza is famous for pyramids and sphinxes. Some of the famous pyramids of Egypt is located in this primitive Egyptian city. The pyramids at Giza were built for the kings- Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. While touring through Giza don't miss the chance of viewing the first large Egyptian pyramid. This was the Step Pyramid of Djoser situated 15 km from Giza. The sphinx and pyramid Khafre is another thing worth seeing in this city.
Quaint villages, beaches are some of the attractions of the city of Alexandria. This place among the various cities of Egypt has many heritage cites as well as stretches of white sandy beaches. There is a secluded bay nestled close to the Sidi Abdel Rahman resort. Tourist can sunbathe, swim and enjoy the white sandy beaches. “Cleopatra's bath” , temple ruin, ancient Coptic chapel and an ancient cave known as “Rommel's hideout” are the other attractions of the place.
