Dictated by conservative laws of the Shariah, religion has had somewhat adverse effect on the culture of Egypt. It is more prominent in the rural areas of the country, where women are still kept under burkah. However, in the city areas, the culture is more upbeat, where both men and women enjoy education and other facets of life.

Since the prehistoric era, art has played a pivotal role in the lives of the Egyptians. In fact, Egyptians were the first to use hieroglyphics, a pictorial art form of alphabets and words. During the time of the Pharaohs, wall art also made tremendous progress. The affinity towards art is still not lost, and it has a major association with the culture of Egypt.
