Edita is one of the private companies in Egypt dealing in the manufacture of food items such as biscuits, confectioneries and cakes. This Egyptian company was set up in the year 1996 and has its headquarters in Cairo. Edita Food Industry as it is officially called has effectively become a chief manufacturer of bakery in Egypt. Apart from being the most important domestic bakery production market, the Edita Food Industry is the major Egyptian partner of the company called Chipita International. The only distributor in all Edita's food products in Egypt is Digma.
The Chairman and Managing Director of Edita Food Industry in Egypt is Karim El-Borollosy and the General Manager is Wafik Youssry.
Edita’s Partnership with Chipita International
At the Athens Stock Exchange on 18 July, 2006 Chipita International announced that its status as subsidiary of Edita SAE. This company also announced the 100% takeover by Edita of the share capital of Digma SAE for an amount of 6.18 million euros. As a result of the acquisition, Edita will now be in command of the selling and distribution structure of the company. The other share holders of Edita include the Berzi Group, Egyptian Development Investment Company and Digma Trading.
