Mentor Graphics Egypt is a supplier of integrated circuit designs to the industrial unit of Bahgat Group, Arab Industrialization Authority, Ministry of Military Production factories as well as many PC assemblers in Egypt and the Middle East. Mentor Graphics specializes in hardware components like chips and boards and also in software components including applications/drivers, which control the operations of product and embedded operating systems.
Through initiative of the Higher Education Program with various universities, Mentor Graphics Egypt has signed several agreements with the Ministry of Higher Education. The universities include Ain Shams University, University of Cairo, the American University in Cairo and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology. The company also has signed a partnership agreement with the Egypt government. This agreement is for training and collaboration with domestic manufacturers.

According to a report in the year 2006, Mentor Graphics Egypt’s sales rose to $65 million and accounted for 15 % of the company’s sales in countries in the Middle East. According to the chairman Hazem Al-Tahawy, the steady rise in the company’s sales in Egypt was due to the development in manufacturing of integrated electronic circuits. This further made Egypt the center for development into the African markets. Hazem Al-Tahawy anticipates a higher growth rate for the company in the future. Moreover with the increase in local technical workforce as compared to 10 specialists when the company was first established, Mentor Graphics Egypt is expected to make further headway.
