Telecom Egypt SAE or Telecom Egypt is the main telephone company of Egypt. It started in the year 1854 with its first telegraph line in Egypt. In 1998, Telecom Egypt SAE replaced the former telephone company of Egypt - Arab Republic of Egypt National Telecommunication Organization (ARENTO). The company features a fixed line subscriber base in more than 11 million subscribers, making it Africa’s and Middle East’s largest fixed telephone provider. Telecom Egypt founded TEData in late 2001 for acting as the company’s Internet and communications arm.
Telecom Egypt SAE has another IT arm known as Xceedcc-Xceed contact center. This IT arm is located in Egypt’s Smart Village. The shares and GDRs of Telecom Egypt SAE are traded on the London Stock Exchange and Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchanges. Moreover, Telecom Egypt also boasts owning 45% of Vodafone share in Egypt. Telecom Egypt has adopted the contemporary trends of quality integration and in 2001 it established its quality sector. This quality sector of Telecom Egypt is under preparation of taking the company to the ISO9001-2000 certificate.

In the year 2004, Telecom Egypt SAE proudly completed its 150 years of dedicated service in Egypt.
