Kemeticism

Kemeticism - Introduction –

Kemeticism refers to the restoration of ancient Egyptian religion, various facets of ancient Egyptian art, literature, culture, spirituality and beliefs. Kemeticism is a religious belief in a means of livelihood, a mode of life, keeping Ma’at and in Neteru.

Kemeticism derived its name from Kemet or Kmt, which is an ancient word for “black soil” or “black land”. This word was used by the Egyptians for the word ‘land’. Kemeticism or Kemetic reconstructionism uses educational means to revive the practices and structures of ancient Egyptian religion. It also involves the application of the revived practices and structures of ancient Egyptian religion to modern times. Religious practices of Kemeticism have contemporary academic research works as its basis.

Facts on Kemeticism -

Kemeticism is not a contemporary “New Age” explanation of ancient Egyptian religious beliefs and not an inference made on the basis of Western religio-magical practices like Ceremonial Magic or Wicca. Kemeticism is the real religious customs that are recorded and followed by the people of Ancient Egypt.

The religious practices of the ancient Egyptian people is about to be an existing renewal of ancient Egyptian religion. Ancient Egyptian religion is also thought to be an African Traditional Religion. This religion is believed to originate from the same sociological and geographic sources, from which other religions of Africa developed.

Kemetics –

A wide number of Kemetics follow the styles to the rituals and other religious practices of the other African traditional religions. This idea mentioned above on Kemeticism is more or less same like the “Definition of Kemeticism” by ‘International Network of Kemetics’.

Few Kemetic persons and groups consider themselves as followers of an African Traditionalist Religion or practitioners of the religion of Ancient Egypt. Some other Kemetic groups declare or think of themselves to be the practitioners of the religion of Ancient Egypt.

Kemetic Wicca -

But these groups in fact, practice Wicca or perform ceremonial rituals called Wicanesque, with magic with the help of liturgies and theologies. These liturgies and theological systems are same as the systems of those religions, which practice Wicca. The people of Ancient Egypt never followed a duotheistic theology or philosophy, never studied Qabaia, spread circles for their religious practices and name directions. Kemetic Wicca is actually an assorted advance, which mixes Wicca and Ancient Egyptian religious aspects.
