Mythology of creation is associated with several mystical stories of different places from all around the world. The role of Egypt is also of great significance in origin myths or the myths of origin. You will find several origin myths of Egypt that relate the fact about the creation of the universe.
Universe at the time of creation according to the Egyptian origin myths:
Of the different origin myths one Egyptian mythological story deals with the fact that before the creation there was only dark waters or chaos in the universe. The first god to appear from that dark water is Ra- Atum or Re- Atum. Then the formation of the deities of moisture and air took place. Tefnut, the god of moisture and Shu, the god of air were formed by the spatting of the Re- Atum.
Creation of the universe as pre the origin myths of Egypt:
Finally, the universe was created with the birth of the Earth or Geb and the Sky or Nut. Creation of the humans took place when Tefnut and Shu lost in the dark wastes.

But they were found by Re- Atum and people were formed by his tears of joy that came out of his eyes on his reuniting with Tefnut and Shu.
Formation of air and year with 365 days:
The origin myths also stated the love story of Nut and Geb and their fornication. Revelation of his incest sibling renders Shu into air to separate the ground and the sky. Shu also ordered that Nut must not give birth to any children on any day of the year. But with the pleading of Nut to Yah, the moon god 5 more days were added to a year and on each of these days Nut gave birth to five children. Thus, Horus-the-Elder, Nephthys, Set, Isis and Osiris took their birth.

Believes of the ancient Greeks related with the origin myths:
It was a common belief among the ancient Greeks that the Egyptian deities are associated with the origin of the Egyptian gods and goddesses. If you study Greek mythology you will find the story of the Greek gods except Zeus and Hermes taking shelter in Egypt in fear of the titan Typhon. In Egypt most of the Greek deities assume the forms of animals in fear of Typhon. This gave rise to the Egyptian deities.
