2nd Achaemenid Persian Dynasty

The 2nd Achaemenid Persian dynasty were into existence from the period 559 to 330 BC. The 2nd Achaemenid Persian dynasty were the first ones from the Persian Empires to conquer the significant portions of greater Iran. During the reign of the Achaemenid Empire,it had the largest empire territory wise. Their kingdoms expanded to over three continents , which included the territories of modern Afghanistan, Pakistan, central Asia, Asia Minor, most of the coastal regions of the Black sea , Iraq, northern Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, and all significant places of the ancient Egypt as well the places of Libya.

The founder of this dynasty was the Persian Achaemenes. Soon he was succeeded by his son Teispes. After the death of Teispes two of his sons shared the throne as Cyrus who became the king of Ansan, and Ariaramnes who became the king of Parsua. Later they were succeeded by their respective sons Cambyses I of Anshan and Arsames of Iran which was earlier called Persia.
According to the historians, the 2nd Achaemenid Persian dynasty was founded by the great king Cyrus, who became king of Persia in the year 559 BC and defeated Astyages in the year 550. The size of the 2nd Achaemenid Persian dynasty is not known exactly, but it included kingdoms like Cappadocia, Armenia,Parthia, Aria and Hyrcania. Later the kingdoms like Lydia, Bactria and Sogdia, were include in the kingdom of 2nd Achaemenid Persian dynasty. Even the city of Babylon was captured in the year 539. During this time the capital was Pasargadae. In the year 530, Cyrus was killed during a war against the Massagetae, one of the Scythian tribe.
Cyrus was succeeded by his son Cambyses, in the year 525BC.Just after three years there was a civil war and rebellions started revolution. While returning home Cambyses died in Syria. A relative of Cambyses, one of the Achaemenid prince Darius, suppressed the rebellions. After that many provinces of the Achaemenid empire revolted against the king. The prominent rebellions were Phraortes of Media and Nidintu-Bel of Babylonia.

After several years of revolution,the Achaemenid empire regained its former shape. The 2nd Achaemenid Persian dynasty built many architectural styles in their empire which included the distinctive buildings having columns called apadanas. The buildings were characterized by carvings on the rock and stone. The climbing staircases were one of the features of the gardens in Persia which divided further into four quadrants. The 2nd Achaemenid Persian dynasty were known to have many luxury items,polychrome jeweleries, animal-headed bracelets and bowls of gold and silver.

Speaking about Egypt, the pharaohs in Egypt occupied a significant position in the kingdom of Egypt. They were overthrown by the 2nd Achaemenid Persian Dynasty as they took control of Egypt and ruled for several years.
