Pyramids of Abu Sir comprise of seven pyramids that serve as the prime royal necropolis of Fifth Dynasty. The quality of these Fifth Dynasty pyramids is not at par with those of Fourth Dynasty, which perhaps signal the decline of the royal powers of might be a signal of less vibrant economy. These are also smaller than their predecessors, which are built out of low quality local limestone.
Major Pyramids of Abu Sir:
here are 3 major pyramids in the location, comprising of Neferikarke Kakai, Niuserre and Sahure. Here is also an incomplete structure of pyramid, in the same site, which is referred as Pyramid of Neferefre. All these wee built in step form and he larges one, the Pyramid of Neferirkare Kakai is believed to be primarily built in step form, which were 70 meters in height. It was later transformed into a pyramid inn true sense with steps filled with loose masonry.
About Pyramids of Abu Sir:
Originally, there were 14 pyramids representing the craftsmanship of Fifth Dynasty, out of which only 4 are present in modern time. As you enter from the Saqqara Complex, the first pyramid to attract your attention is Pyramid of Neferefre, which was never finished and it is in a poor condition. Next one towards north is Pyramid of Niuserre, which is of 68 meters in height. To its north east is a funeral temple that was built for Neferikare, but it was used for Niuserre, as he died at premature age.

The tomb of Ptah-Cepses is not in a good condition which is in the north east of the temple. Last pyramid in Pyramids of Abu Sir complex, is Pyramid of Sahure, which is also a funeral temple. This is not in such damaged condition as the other ones. A few of the reliefs are still preserved inside the temple.
