These pyramids are also attractions for the tourists coming to this country and this is why the government of Egypt has also come forward to protect them as heritage properties of the country. Go through the following to know the detailed information about the Pyramids of Lisht and their role in the history of Egypt.

All the Pyramids of Lisht are believed to have been built at the time of Amenemhet I who ruled in this country during the 12th Dynasty. It has also been deduced that he was perhaps the first ruler who belonged to the Middle Kingdom. Fayoum Oasis is one of the places which are located very close to this pyramid. The archaeologists have proved that this place was probably used as a major port in Egypt and thus a commercial civilization had its existence in this region. Pyramids of Lisht can all be regarded as similar patterns with the other ones present in the country. But there are some uniqueness in them which have made them different from the rest.

Maspero was the archaeologist who is credited for the discovery of this pyramid. The discovery took place in the year 1882 and after that many researches have been done on the subject. The team from Metropolitan Museum of New York has also done detailed research works on these structures. There was also a temple in the surrounding area where the Egyptians used to come for the purpose of prayer. It has also been estimated that Amenemhet I ruled in this country for over 20 years. Sed Festival was one of the festivals which were held at this place from time to time.

This was a religious festival in which thousands of Egyptians used to participate. A false door on one of the Pyramids of Lisht has been found although there is no proper explanation yet been formed about it.

The tomb shaft is at the center of the underground hall of all the pyramids. The causeway on the other hand is parallel with the pyramids' axis. Mud and bricks are the two of main materials which have been used for building all these structures.
