The main shopping locations in Egypt is the capital Cairo having thousands of shops, modern shoping malls like that in the west and bazaars where number of individual shops are under one roof . However, Cairo is not the only centre of shopping locations in Egypt, there are millions of shops scattered throughout different cities like Alexandria, Luxor, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada. Infact, it is better to buy some of the objects from placees where they are produced as the prices would relatively low. For example, Luxor is the main place where handicrafts of Alabaster are produced and thus it is adviced to buy the Alabaster handicrafts from that place.
The city of Cairo is the hub of the shopping locations in Egypt. Some of the famous shopping locations in Egypt are as follows:
- Some of the most famous markets in Egypt are Khan el-Khalili in central Cairo, Friday market located under Al-Tonssy flyover (the Autostrade) in the heart of Cairo.

- The important trading place of cotton products in Egypt are three areas consisting of Wekalet El Balah, Al Azhar Street and El Sadd Street. These places are favorite of the Egyptians for the great cotton items at good prices. There are numerous shops at El Sadd Street beside the Saida Zeinab mosque in Cairo. There is cotton market on Azhar Street, which is located next to Opera Square near downtown Cairo. Another important centre is the Wekalet El Balah market located in the old neighborhood of Boulak Abu Al Ela.

- There is the market Al Khatom located behind the famous Al-Azhar Mosque, near to the Zeinab Khatoun House and the Beit Al-Harrawi cultural center in Cairo. It is a market known for it's artworks like glassware, leatherworks, mirrored patchwork tapestries, lampshades with Arabic calligraphy, little wooden furniture pieces or items from brass and copper or other metals.
- The city Sharm El-Sheikh is famous for it's perfumes and carpets. Two well known shops, Baraka Carpets and Aladin are worth exploring. Baraka carpets is a shop exclusively for carpets and Aladin is a gift shop.
- In Cairo, shopping malls are blossoming like the seven-storeyed Talaat Harb Center, the Arkadia Mall ashore the Nile and there are other malls too. These new shopping malls are having the facilities and ambiance like any other shopping malls found in American or Europe.
- If you are interested in buying tents or works of Applique then the best place is Kheiymiya Street, south of Bab Zweila in Cairo
- In Luxor, one can get beautiful works of alabaster in Fair Trade Center near the Emilio Hotel in Luxor.
