Valley of the Kings

Valley of the Kings is doubtlessly one of the most mysterious and eerie places of the world. This is the place where the Pharaoh's were buried and desired to meet their Gods during afterlife because for them death was only the beginning.

Location and overview:
The valley or the ‘Wadi’ is located on the west bank of the Nile, across from Thebes (currently Luxor), in the center of the Theban Necropolis. The place comprises of two valleys, East Valley (the burial ground for the royal ones) and West Valley. The area has attracted archaeologists since the end of 18th century and came into news all the more after the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamen and has become the most popular archaeological site in the world with the rumors of the 'curse of the Pharaoh' tagged to it. Along with the Thebian Necropolis it became a world heritage site in 1979.

In 1910 the entrance to the Valley of the Kings was through a narrow cleft in the bedrock. It has been widened for a paved road now-a -days.
