Heliopolis University is a new non-governmental non profit univerity in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
Heliopolis University has been established in September,2007 with an "entrepreneurial and application-oriented approach"to education so that the students can meet the demands of the industry and the society.
The university is formed as part of the program of educational development by SEKEM. SEKEM is the company established by Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish in the 1970's . The Abouleish foundation held the family capital of SEKEM and the SEKEM group believes in the contibution to the overall growth of the society, individual and environment.

At present, the university is offering only undergraduate courses in engineering and business administration and from 2012, it will offer postgraudate courses. There is also provision of doing research. The address

Under the faculty of Engineering (B.Sc. Degree):
Environmental Engineering (Land, Water & Energy)
Pharmaceutical Engineering & Biotechnology
Mechatronics
All courses of Engineering are of five years duration.
Under the faculty of Business (B.Sc. or B.A. Degree):
Business and Management Systems (B.Sc.)
Communication & Marketing (B.A.)
All courses of Business are of four years duration.
All courses are in compliance with the Bologna Process for Higher Education and are credited according to ECTS points (European Credit Transfer System).
The university believes that anyone who is doing the reasearch should impart their knowledge to the students and those who are teachers should enhance their knowledge by being in the field of research. Thus, Heliopolis University gives the chance to do research and teach simultaneoulsy.

The research fellows and the teachers are engaged in making new solutions for the Egyptian and international market. They are aided by or make collaborations with the Egyptian and international organizations.
The unique feature of the university is to encourage students in artistic and social programs. The students can take up number of subjects on art and social sciences present in the curricula.
