Pharos University in Alexandria is one of the notable universities in Egypt. It is the only private university in the city of Alexandria as well. Located at Smouha suburb in Alexandria, just 3 km from the Alexandria University main campus, and 4 km from Alexandria downtown, the Pharos University in Alexandria is built on the vast area of 183000 square meter. Founded as a non-governmental and non-profitable university, the Pharos University in Alexandria was built after getting the license from the Egyptian supreme council of private universities. The name of the university, "pharos" refers to the lighthouse in the city of Alexandria that was built during the Greco-Egyptian period. Pharos University in Alexandria offers a wide range of courses to a number of students from all the corners of the country through its seven faculties.

Scholarships at Pharos University in Alexandria
The Pharos University in Alexandria offers a few scholarships to the students in each faculty with a maximum of 3 students per faculty per academic level. The first student gets 25% waivers from the tuition fees. The second and third student gets 15% and 10% waiver respectively. Students can have maximum of one scholarship at a time.
Pharos University in Alexandria also have scholarship for the top graduates of Al-Thanawia Al-Amma certificate in Alexadria. The toppers can get 50% waiver from their tuition fees, provided that they can maintain a GPA greater than 4.0.
